Cognitive assessments are conducted to evaluate a person's intellectual ability and academic achievements. These evaluations are frequently utilized to identify if someone requires additional educational support or if a learning disorder is present. Additionally, they can be used to determine if a child is academically gifted. The assessment process generally includes an interview with the individual and important others, along with psychometric testing through various tasks. We provide assessments using gold standard measures, such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, 5th Edition (WISC-V), the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT-III), and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, 4th Edition (WAIS-IV). We also conduct memory assessments using the Wechsler Memory Scale, 4th Edition (WMS-IV). The WMS is a neuropsychological test designed to measure different memory functions in a person. Anyone ages 16 to 90 is eligible to take this test.
Fees:
Cognitive Assessment (ages 7- 17) (WISC-V): $1100
Cognitive Assessment (ages 16-90) (WAIS-IV): $1100
Educational/Academic Achievement Testing: $1600
(includes WIAT-III and WISC-V/WAIS-V)
Memory Assessment (ages 16-90) (WMS): $1200

As best practice, we should always screen for both Autism and ADHD together because the likelihood of dual diagnosis is significant. Someone is more likely to be both than just one or the other. Once ADHD symptoms are controlled for (by medication or otherwise), many people report more noticeable traits of their Autism.
A diagnostic assessment involves a comprehensive evaluation using a combination of clinical interviews, observations, relevant background reports, and standardised assessments. This process determines whether an individual meets the DSM-5-TR criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or ADHD, identifies any other co-occurring conditions, and assesses the need for further evaluation.
Fees:
Autism/ADHD Assessment (Adults): $1500
Autism/ADHD Assessment (Children): $1700
Assessment fees include a comprehensive report.
For those genuinely in need of reduced rate assessments:
These are negotiated on a case by case basis, including discussion of why reduced rates are necessary. If the need for reduced rates is found to be genuine, assessments can be completed for $700 for adults and $750 for children, which includes the summary letter. Spaces for reduced rate assessments are limited, so please be mindful that there will be a longer wait time. If a comprehensive report is required, additional fees will apply depending on complexity.

IMPORTANT
Our reports may support NDIS applications; however, acceptance is at the discretion of the NDIS. Our primary focus is on providing meaningful insights and personalised strategies for personal development. We recommend that any NDIS application include supporting documentation aligned with their eligibility criteria. The assessment and report are completed by a generally registered psychologist and then formalised by a clinical psychologist to support those that are wishing to apply to NDIS or Centrelink.
Reports from our assessments include an official diagnosis (including severity levels in the case of Autism), assessment of functional impairment, and support recommendations.
Please note that a diagnosis is not a guarantee of an approved application for NDIS supports (as this depends on other factors such as level of support needs).
More information regarding applying for NDIS supports may be found here: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis
Queries regarding supports or accommodations at school or university should be directed to your educational institution, but your assessing psychologist will be happy to complete any application forms which are required.
Please note that Medicare rebates are available with a valid referral (from a paediatrician or psychiatrist), and if the person undergoing the assessment is under 25 years old.
